Job Description Overview

The Account Executive (AE) will help to lead client accounts including regular communication with clients, and oversee programs including earned media, thought leadership, events, influencer relations, brand partnerships, and overall communications strategy. 

AE will have a high level of client relations, and media relations, and have a proven ability to execute and drive results in media and influencer relations. Account work can also include program planning, content strategy, creation and distribution, social media strategy and management, as well as media list development and management, coverage tracking, and program results analysis.

We aim to be thoughtful, strategic and creative in how we drive results for each client. We are knowledgeable on the media landscape and competitor performance as it relates to each client.

AE will strive to answer strategic questions, proactively providing suggestions, advice, and even telling clients what they might not want to hear in the most constructive, collaborative and purposeful way.


Day-to-Day Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to story angle development and write messaging documents, press releases, media pitches, brand strategies, social media posts, product introductions, etc.

  • Pitch national, regional and trade editors, across print, broadcast and online, to secure top-tier media opportunities, including press coverage in home, interior design, lifestyle, and consumer outlets

  • Research and secure speaking engagements, sponsorship opportunities, and award submissions, as relevant for each client program

  • Regularly correspond with editors to ensure deliverables are being sent on time and meeting deadlines, including Q&As, product samples and image requests

  • Arrange interviews and editorial meetings with key editors for clients’ spokespeople and facilitate these meetings where appropriate

  • Communicate with clients consistently and respond to emails in a timely manner

  • Coordinate weekly client calls, draft agendas, take notes and provide action items following each meeting

  • Create, update and maintain proprietary media lists for each client, utilize Cision media database and manual research for appropriate media contacts

  • Stay up to date on industry publications to identify new and relevant opportunities for pitch ideas and client coverage

  • Assist in event strategy and production for press events, media tours, brand introductions, new product launches, showroom openings, etc.

  • Monitor media outlets for client coverage and report results to clients, maintain media coverage trackers for EOY Reporting

  • Advise on client social media strategy and track social media activities

  • Assist in strategy and execution of PSPR social media

  • Assist in developing PR & Communications Plans for client programs, as well as EOY Reporting on overall program deliverables and success

  • Assist in new business development including drafting proposals and pitching new business 

  • Brainstorm fresh ideas for PR campaigns

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years of relevant PR or marketing experience

  • Understanding of product launches, brand storytelling, and media and influencer relations strategies

  • Interest in digital/new media marketing strategies

  • Ability to write persuasively with strong verbal communication

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to simultaneously track and manage multiple account demands

  • Self starter that takes initiative on what needs to be done to successfully meet objectives without being asked
